Research in Dr. Kaja's laboratory

The main research focus in Dr. Kaja's laboratory is on pathophysiological mechanisms underlying neurological
and visual disorders.

The experimental techniques utilized in the lab include: -
* high-resolution fluorescent and confocal imaging
* ratiometric Ca2+ imaging
* patch-clamp electrophysiology
* sharp-microelectrode electrophysiology
* molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry

Current research projects include: -
* visual impairments during migraine
* development of novel methods for measuring glutamate release
* oxidative stress and neuroprotection
* synaptic transmission defects in migraine and cerebellar ataxia
